All th world's a stage
And all the men and women are merely players...
Shakespeare declaired this life to be no more than a play so many years ago. But what we see now is that in educatioin the academic approach has made the learning process so boring, that most of us has lost interest for studying. If you think that learning is something boring and difficult, that you have to do, then just take a look at children - my 4-year old speaks Russian so fluently and Russian is one of the most difficult languages to learn. Still, children can learn any languages playfully, just by listening, practicing, making other people talk to them, keeping asking millions of questions. They are not afraid to make a mistake, to look silly, they would invent their own ways of speaking up their minds and they make wonderful progress - it takes them a couple of years to become a native speaker.
I'm sure that playing is the best motivation. It is not enough to have a big goal, if the process is boring. The process of learning can become the source of self-development for a student, if a tutor builds up the teaching process to the special needs of a student, taking him or her individually in a learner-centered style. By creating the encouraging atmosphere, by playing language games, we can take the student through the stages of language apprehension with minimum pain.
